Kalabash is a historical figure in Ghanian societies, which is associated with women, wealth and is used to store shea butter, as hats and a variety of items. This is an abstract piece showing affluent sister’s looking to the east in brightly white dresses, wearing large earrings, covered heads engaged in a conversation. Their arms are folded which is typical of African women when a conversation gets hot.
