Themba’s Garden

SponsoredNomathemba Bellz

Gardening brings me personal peace.

My dad bought be a 20×20 m Stand in Soshanguve, Pretoria in 2022 & I have had the best time organizing & planning for it. I started planting Habanero Chilies & I am so excited to work on adding more to the small piece of land.

Month end at Themba’s Garden

After 8 years working at Engineers Without Borders South Africa, I really wanted to start getting my hands dirty with actual community work. The garden is looked after by Themba, a local gardener & I visit on a monthly basis.

My first set of huge Chillies

The joy of bringing my family & friends Chilies and learning about the distribution channels for fresh vegetables has been most interesting. I recently started working for an Agriculture company & you will be surprised how many selling platforms exist for small town growers like myself.  I found rsa.co.za particularly helpful.

First fruits were shared with my family

In the coming months, my focusing is planting more chilies, adding sunflowers to the surround the garden space. The idea is to better predict the life cycle of each plant so I can be clear on my harvest cycles. Super keen to share this journey with you 😊
