Friend
When I got to Entebbe, Uganda , exhausted from Kenya, Nairobi my driver was waiting for me with a big sense of anxiety because he felt we were going to get stuck in a “jam” (traffic jam). I managed to get a bag & a few items from the flea market, but we truly had the most interesting 3 hours together traveling to Kampala.

We spoke about the Buganda Kingdom, the local Bantu speaking kingship of Uganda. He explained to me that he was a Muganda, who spoke Luganda from the Buganda Kingdom of Uganda, Kabaka which sounded like a poem to me. I asked for his clan’s name, and because he is bantu, he included the phrase “Ndimuzukulu” which my Nguni brain automatically understood (Hear this recording at the end of these readings).
We managed to get to Kampala and travelled to Jinja the next morning. The drive to Jinja is so lush. The actual source of the famous Nile River is right there, and it’s got this tropical feel to the area, which is interesting for a landlocked country. You can actually follow the flow of water from this area all the way to the Nile if you have time :).

I learnt that you can get a 15.24 m by 30 m stand ( piece of residential type land) for UGX 20 Million ( $5278.81 or R 94001.05) in the village just before Jinja. Its abit pricing considering an industrial stand size in Soshanguve, South Africa is R50000, residential can be R8000 at max for a small 20 m by 20 m). But Sosha is not the source of the Nile river so we can’t really compare.

I have put the Nyege Nyege festival on our list of things to do. I enjoyed their food , I had tribe , trotters, and an array of yummy vegetables. We ended of our stay in Entebbe Uganda which is gorgeous, and feels like you’re at the beach.

Truly the “Pearl of Africa” mgani wami and I cannot wait to party there with you as soon as we get our money right.

With love,
